This series is going to be all about food -- food that I love to eat or want to eat, that I love to make or want to make, quite simply anything and everything to do with food. I'll post recipes that I've tried or that I want to try. Things I've made that turned out wonderfully, and the others that might not taste quite as good as desired. I love food. So why not write about it?
Lately I've been on a home-cooking kick. Well. Semi-home-cooking kick, I guess.
Last night Trey came over (he was a super awesome boyfriend and drove all the way to College Park just to drop off some paperwork from my house) and I thanked him by buying ingredients for us to make dinner together -- any meal of his choice. Fettuccine alfredo with chicken, broccoli, and garlic toast. I should have known (it is, of course, his favorite dish).
So off to the store we went, with every intention of a completely home-made delicious meal. In all honesty, we didn't do too bad. The sauce ended up coming out of a jar, and the pasta was a little more al dente than we would have liked, but the Italian bread (toasted with butter and garlic) was delicious and the chicken (rubbed with thyme, sage, salt, and pepper and then grilled) was tender and juicy and quite scrumptious.
So as for home-made, it didn't quite work out, but it was delicious nonetheless. As for next time? We're thinking that our next attempt will somehow involve a crock pot. Soup, perhaps? Or stew? Or perhaps some chili? Yummmmm. I'm feeling that chili.
