blue-eyed curiosity: Artist to Know

So VH1 (for once) has finally done something that I can respect and appreciate. They've named Australian singer Sia as an artist to know. YES.

Sia is everything and indie artist should be -- extremely talented, original, and quite simply an amazing person. Last fall I went with a couple of my girlfriends and my boyfriend to see a concert of hers in DC and it was just wonderful. She's such a happy and simple person, and that shows in her music. And while many of her songs stray more towards sad than cheerful, there's no denying that she has wonderful talent and that she deserves any and every acknowledgement that she can get.

And so, here is a selection of her songs.

To begin, here is Breathe Me, a relatively well-known song, and certainly one of Sia's greatest hits.

So that is definitely one of my favorites - particularly because of the emotion that I feel when I listen to it. This song is the first track on the soundtrack to my relationship with my wonderful love <3

Up next is another one of her older songs, Soon We'll be Found.

Now, let's try for a happier song. This one, which was a big hit on her latest CD, made it onto the radio a lot, so it's probably more familiar to new Sia fans. Clap Your Hands!

Let me just say that I loved the entirety of the latest CD (We Are Born). I encourage everyone to give it a try -- she really is an amazing artist.
