Les Mis, cont.

So I've decided to display a couple of my favorite songs from the musical.

First, there are the more emotional songs.

(1) Bring Him Home -- Valjean prays to God for Marius to live so that he may live and love with Cosette.  This version (while not my absolute favorite) is by John Owen Jones, one of the most notable names associated with Les Mis.
*For any who may be curious, my favorite Valjean would most definitely be Colm Wilkinson.

I actually found a rather amazing compilation from the 4 most popular Valjeans -- to me, it's quite moving.  The quality of the video isn't great, but the performance itself is just stunning.

(2) Empty Chairs at Empty Tables -- Marius sings after the revolution is over and lost.  He is singing his pain for the lost of all of his friends -- he was the only to survive.  This version is sung by Michael Ball, the original Marius.  The recording is actually from the 10th Anniversary performance.
*Note: Nick Jonas also does a performance of this song, and I must say that he is rather fantastic.  The Jonas Brothers suck, but I can't deny that Nick has talent.

And Nick Jonas' performance can be heard here:

(3) One Day More -- This is a song by everyone in the show -- it's the night before the Revolution and they are all singing of their hopes for the future, about everything should change in just one day.  This version is also from the 10th Anniversary performance.

And now I come to the less emotional songs, but these are still significant and very moving and important to the show and the plot.

(1) Stars - Javert is singing this to God, asking what he should do about Valjean.  Yet again, this version is taken from the 10th Anniversary performance (they seem to be the best recordings on YouTube).

(2) A Little Fall of Rain - Eponine and Marius sing a final duet after she is shot.  She dies at the end of the song.  Taken from the 10th Anniversary performance.

Now onto the cute/funny songs!  They are less significant to the plot, but they act as nice relievers to take some of the drama away from the story.

(1) Little People - This is just Gavroche singing about being a small boy during the revolution.  From the symphonic recording.

So there's a lot more that I'd like to talk about...but I'm getting kind of bored of this.  I've made note here of my absolute favorite songs, and I'd recommend that anyone who likes these should listen to the entire soundtrack.  It really is a phenomenal show.
